A note from our Team Captain

Untitled document

To our Fellow Agility Enthusiasts,

The CKC Agility Team Canada (CKC ATC) is a nonprofit organization partnered with the Canadian Kennel Club and run by a group of committed volunteers responsible for developing and preparing the Canadian Agility Athlete for the FCI World Championships.

In order to do this, we need the co-operation of our team members, friends, family, and local, regional and national agility community. Our goal is to foster awareness and growth of International level Agility Competition in Canada and encourage all Canadian agility participants to develop their talents as athletes, coaches, trainers, handlers and International competitors.

As many of you know our own Jessica Martin and her sheltie Dice came home with the overall Gold Medal last year at the FCI World Championships along with Susan Garrett and Feature who took the Gold Medal in the Individual Standard Agility Class! We are extremely proud of our talented dogs and handlers in Canada and we are showing that to the world once again at the FCI World Championships which will be held Oct 7-9, 2011 in Liévin France. The FCI World Championships are the oldest and largest World Championships for our sport.

The Selection Process

The panel of 5 on our selection committee spent hours reviewing the video applications sent to us by many, many talented handler and dog teams. A point system is used to score each team on various skills such as handling, contact and weave pole performance, jumping skills and course analysis. Each committee member reviews the applications and scores all the applicants individually. Then all the committee members submit their scores and all scores are combined to choose the team. This is a long process and we would like to thank our selection committee for their time and dedication to helping us choose the best team possible. The committee consists of Case Laan, MJ Thuot, Sandra Esford, Nina Durante and Kim Collins.

Sponsorship

We had a fabulous group of sponsors for our team last year and we attribute much of our team's success to their ongoing support. There are many Canadian Teams travelling abroad to different World Championships now and we all rely on our local, Regional and National agility community for support.

CKC ATC has many ways for people to sponsor our team and many levels of sponsorship. Team preparation, travel, and training are all part of the commitment the team members make when they sign onto this team. It is a big commitment for everyone involved and comes with a huge amount of expenses. The cost for operating the team business for a year is approximately $70,000. We must raise that money through sponsorship and fundraising ventures.

Ways to help...

We have 4 levels of sponsorship available.

Platinum $5000.00 and over

Gold $3000.00 - $4999.00

Silver $2000.00 - $2999.00

Bronze $1000- $1999.00

Friends of CKC ATC - $100.00 - $1000.00.

You can sponsor through cash donations to the team or if you have a business and would like to donate to a raffle we always need product. If you would like to sponsor the team in another way please email our Sponsorship coordinator Linda Barton at

Thank you to our ongoing Platinum Sponsor Centaur Wellness/Sasha Blend for their support of Canadian International Agility! Visit their web site at www.centaurwellness.com.

Fundraising

We will once again have our team shirts and hats for sale through any team member. Watch for new items for 2011! Contact our Fundraising coordinators Lorraine Jurovich (Western Canada) if you would like to pre order any product or if you have a fundraising idea for the team. We are always looking for new ways to fundraise!

We will also be hosting another CKC Agility Fundraising Trial June 25 and 26, 2011 at lovely Royackers Kennels. The Belleville Club is supporting the CKC Agility Team Canada by hosting and running the trial this year. Many of the Team Canada will be there helping and running at this trial, so come along and offer your support. All funds raised will go towards the team's trip to France in October to represent Canada at the FCI World Championship. Our sponsors: CKC, Royackers Kennels, Belleville Kennel Club, Cassios, Sashas Blend, and Aimhi have all donated their fees to this trial. Our judges: Carol Smorch and Nina Durante are also donating their judging fees to the Team.

Linda Barton is accepting donations for the raffle table again this year. If you would like to donate to our raffle table please email Linda at .
